Hand held scanner
The TreadReader hand held scanner is an ideal tool for fleet inspectors who manage large numbers of vehicles and need a fast and automated method to measure tyre wear in the yard or in the vehicle maintenance unit. Patented optical technology reduces the size of the scanner to fit under a wheel arch. The portable scanner is positioned on one edge of the tyre in contact with the tread face and slid across the tyre. Minimum and average tread depths are calculated and transmitted wirelessly to a PDA. PDA software instantly generates a report for the fleet inspector including:
- Customer and job number
- Date and time stamp
- Vehicle registration
- Axle and tyre position
- Minimum and average tread depth
- Alarms based on minimum tread depth set points
- Identification of specific wear modes including edge wear, centre wear, heal/toe wear
The portable scanner can be connected to a PC using the Ethernet port for easy integration into existing data management systems and offline wear analysis and tyre lifetime modelling.
