1.2 million
deaths and up to 50 million injuries occur every year in traffic accidents around the world. According to the WHO, many of these are preventable. One in four tire-related traffic accidents occurs as a result of illegal tires.
SAFE DRIVING
Tire tread plays a crucial role in grip performance when driving.
The average stopping distance rapidly increases on tires with less than 3.5mm of tread. At the legal minimum of 1.6mm, stopping distance can increase by 65%.
Low tread depth also significantly increases the risk of aquaplaning. On tires with less than the legal minimum tread, vehicle speed is reduced by 40% at the risk of aquaplaning.
